Quick and Easy Makeup Style

What is it? Quick and Easy Makeup is a new portable, refillable case containing three products. Inside you have a highlighter, cream lip and blush and a mini long-wear eye wand. It comes in five colourways to suit all skin tones. I chose “Date Night” which is a beautiful tawny rose pink. The premise behind this new launch from Tilbury is to give quick and easy makeup to the modern muse. Makeup that can be done in five minutes anywhere, in any circumstance; no need for brushes no need for sponges, “scribble it” as Charlotte says and dab and blend and you’re done.

Quick and Easy Makeup Style

Let’s look at the packaging first. Okay, I am all about vintage Hollywood glam and the history of makeup in general and this, well, it spoke to my soul. It is very reminiscent of makeup cases from the 1930s. It’s luxurious and that is what truly makes this makeup piece.

While it is hard plastic it is beautiful and feels well made and as though it will withstand much use. As you open the case, which is embossed with the Charlotte Tilbury logo, you are greeted with a weighty mirror with your makeup items inside. This makes it easy to quite literally do your makeup or top of your look anywhere – it is perfect to throw in a handbag, in a suitcase whatever your daily demands are.

Inside three makeup items fit into their perfectly designed sections. The largest being the Highlighter and Lip & Cheek Tint, the smaller being the Eye wand. In terms of accessibility, this is a little fiddly to pop out compared to the others.

The three products don’t come with individual lids, the case itself creates the seal. Here’s hoping that it is an airtight click which enables the products to remain sealed and therefore not dry out; I will report back on that though. The lack of individual lids is slightly frustrating as you are limited to only ever taking the full case with you, you couldn’t for example, just pop the Lip & Cheek tint in your handbag for the day as it doesn’t have its own separate lid.

A makeup case with cream makeup cruelty free

Refills are available however, therefore I would guess that they must arrive with lids. So the option of buying the products in a different colourway or a refill of the same shades may give you the security of transportable lids if this is a concern for you. It is just a little disappointing that this appears to be the only option.

Simply in terms of looks, the compact is beautiful, in terms of weight it has a little bit of weight to it it. It is certainly heavier than perhaps a simple lipstick maybe but if you’re looking for a full face touchup kit it’s a very easy piece that you can manoeuvre being portable and of course refillable, with the options of adding different colours to your collection.

The case looks as wonderful being pulled out of a handbag as it does lovingly presented on a beauty vanity.

The Products

As I mentioned I have the colourway named Date Night and inside that is the tawny rose Lip & Cheek Tint, the iridescent highlighter and rose pink Eye wand.

The eye wand is smudge and crease resistant and it has a delicate shimmer running through. It is incredibly long-wearing and doesn’t particularly wash off with ease which is great when you want an eyeshadow that will truly last throughout the day and night. I believe it will be particularly good for those of us with more oily eyelids or if you find that eyeshadows crease quite easily.

Easy Lip and Cheek wand in Date Night is a soft matte and it works well both as a lip and cheek. The colour is buildable and doesn’t apply too heavy on the cheek itself; it can be built up in lovely light layers. The shade is a delicate pink, it’s a pretty pink which is not overwhelming. On my skin tone, it’s a healthy, everyday, natural blush that is also very flattering on the lips.

It is a comfortable formula on the lips and doesn’t cause any dryness. However, it isn’t particularly long-wearing on the lips but with the option to carry the set for touchups I don’t see this being an issue.

Easy Highlight in the shade Chic Glow is a balm/cream highlighter, its finish is dewy. The balm is very easy to apply, a simple tap over the edge of blends the highlighter effortlessly. It is subtle but with a beautiful pearlescent finish. An undone highlighter that can be built up to a beautiful grown-up glow, a very pretty goddess glow as Charlotte would say.

I find it flattering and it doesn’t accentuate fine lines nor does it feel greasy on my oily/combination skin.

Who wouldn’t enjoy pulling such a gorgeous piece of your handbag when sitting around a coffee table or indeed drinking margaritas with the girls

My Thoughts

All in all, I am very impressed with this collection. It’s not the most long-wearing, as one would expect from cream products but I can get a good few hours of wear and then top up throughout the day with ease. This is a very visual product and if you are somebody who enjoys collecting makeup, someone who likes having makeup on their person to top up throughout the day then this may be a product for you. The case looks as wonderful being pulled out of a handbag as it does lovingly presented on a beauty vanity.

The one let down for me is the name. We all grew tired of the over the top sexually charged product names from some brands, and yes that includes Charlotte Tilbury, so I’m happy to see that retired but what I do enjoy, name wise, are the nods to muses, to inspirations. The throwbacks to yesteryears and glamour of the days gone by, and with this launch oozing the vintage vibes well, I feel like it missed a mark a little bit.

Of course, it is direct. It tells you exactly what it is, which product goes where and in that sense, it works. This is makeup meant for a quick look, for ease and yes the name tells us that (more so than ‘Glowgasm’ ever would) but in the same sense, I kind of wanted this to be iconic in its name, that’s all. It works for the consumer, but for those of us who see its references to history, I just longed for a little bit more.

Of course, none of that really matters. It certainly doesn’t take away from the quality of the products or the beauty of the packaging. It is a launch that I’m really enjoying. So if you like simple quick easy make-up, something you can throw on in the morning when you have two minutes to get out the door, if you like carefree vibes, and gently flushed cheeks then I’d recommend checking this out.

Who wouldn’t enjoy pulling such a gorgeous piece of your handbag when sitting around a coffee table or indeed drinking margaritas with the girls? Despite its lacklustre name, it is divine and I love it.
