What is the ZIIP HALO Device?

ZIIP HALO is a beauty device that uses electrical currents to help your skin repair, stimulate collagen, and stay firm. The current works with the natural biochemistry in our skin, aided by a conductive gel. The device is able to mimic this, targeting different skin concerns by cleverly adjusting the type and strength of the electric wave.

“Microcurrent is a low-intensity electrical current, commonly used as a non-invasive electrotherapy to improve the appearance and health of skin. Usually administered using a small, handheld device, tiny electrical currents are conducted safely using a conductive gel, applied to the skin before each treatment.” ZIIP

It is designed to be a quick and easy addition to your beauty routine and gives immediate and long-term results which can be built on over time.

ZIIP Halo comes with its own app, which includes 17 different treatment routines to help with lifting, firming, lymphatic drainage, collagen boosting and more, which you can choose from depending on your needs. The device is programmed with a 4 Minute Facial routine (this uses Microcurrent and Nanocurrent) so you can use the ZIIP anywhere without the app.

What’s in the ZIIP Halo kit

As is the case for most beauty devices, the upfront cost of ZIIP Halo is an investment of £379.99. The set features the device, charging cable, travel pouch, manual and 3 of the conductive gels, all in a presentation box.

ZIIP is a silver device that fits snugly into the palm of your hand and charges with a USB-C cable.

The device itself is small, lightweight and easy to travel with.

When looking at the price, I like to consider use and what you look to gain from a beauty device. If this is something you plan on regularly using in your routine, then the fact that there are 17 treatments within the app that target different skin concerns and areas of the face and neck is worth bearing in mind. Especially when in-salon treatments can be very costly.

Review

You’ll find many a celeb and their glam squad reach for the microcurrent device during skin prep to really sculpt, lift and firm prior to a big event; think Jennifer Aniston, Margot Robbie, Gillian Anderson, Kim Kardashian and Elizabeth Olsen. In fact, I first became familiar with the ZIIP Halo when celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff posted about it on Instagram. I was hooked.

So where might a device like this fit into everyday life (we’re not all Margo Robbie at Cannes after all…).

The benefits of the ZIIP Halo are twofold. The different strengths of the waveforms create both immediate and long-term results – all further enhanced with use. Think of it as your toning exercise routine for your face and neck, thankfully much easier than the gym.

I’m 44, perimenopause has hit, and suddenly overnight I am now the owner of jowls and loose skin on my neck.  I therefore decided to focus on treating this area and the ‘Jowls’ and ‘Neck’ programmes.

User Tips & Set Up

You need to use the conductive gel with the device, and you’ll find 3 bottles in the kit: Silver, Crystal and Gold. Each has a different benefit:

Silver Gel – Hydrates; Gold Gel – Brightens and plumps; Crystal Gel – Treats pigmentation.

The Gold Gel can double up as an intensive mask and can be left on for 20mins.

There is a button to switch the device underneath.

It’s important to ensure that both of the probes (the two silver circles underneath) on the device are in contact with your skin at all times for the treatment to work.

It is recommended to use ZIIP 3-5 times per week, a maximum of 6 times per week.

The device is easy to set up. Simply plug into the power cable to charge before treatment, and the red light turns green once charged.

The App Has 17 different treatments that focus on a variety of different skin concerns: 4 Min Facial, Refresh & Depuff, Glow Revival, Instant Lift, The Everything Facial And More. You can feel the difference as the vibration changes in the programmes – it’s fascinating!

The app is free, easy to download from both the Apple and Google app stores and was easy to set up and connect to the device via Bluetooth.

You initiate treatment via the app, but it is optional as mentioned above; the device has a 4-minute facial programmed in, so you can use the device without it should you wish. There is an on/off button on the underside of the device.

I decided to start with the ‘Jowls’ programme and immediately follow with the ‘Neck’ treatment, and this has been my routine over the two weeks. Applying the gel to start, it feels cooling and hydrating and glides over the skin easily. I haven’t felt sensitivity from any of the 3 gels and find all pleasant to use. The treatment is painless; you can feel the vibration and its changes in strength; sometimes you can feel and see a muscle twitch.

I really like that the app’s programme shows a step-by-step video tutorial so that you can follow along. The device itself uses haptics to alert you when it’s time to move from one side of the face to the other, so there is guidance throughout. The whole treatment process feels seamless and well thought out.

The result is immediate. You can feel that your muscles have tightened and feel more lifted.

I have also experimented with the lips programme and am very impressed with how effective it is at giving lift and volume!

Of course, this is like a mini workout for your face and neck, and like any workout for your body, this is something to do regularly to maintain results.

Below are some results from users of the ZIIP Halo. I’ll update with mine when ready.

Final Thoughts

As it is such a quick treatment, I’ve found it easy to incorporate into my routine, and I am incredibly impressed with my results.

The technology is backed by clinical studies, which is important, gives credence to the claims and certainly helps validate the higher price point. It is an expensive device, but it’s worth considering the benefits of an at-home device, how often you can use it in your daily routine, as opposed to an in-salon treatment, which may be an expensive one-off.

I’ve been a fan of microcurrent devices for years now, but what elevates the ZIIP Halo is the dual current and the ability to alter wavelengths for different results.

Overall, I’m hooked and will be continuing to use ZIIP Halo in my routine.
