Lisa Eldridge Pinpoint Concealer

Over the last decade, Lisa has bought us many YouTube videos educating us on her pinpoint concealing technique, which is so intertwined with her that it is now her registered trademark!

The aim? To conceal carefully, correcting where needed leaving barely a trace.

The Pinpoint® Concealer Micro Correcting Pencil is a full-coverage, long-wearing, waterproof concealer in a pencil format with a precise 1.5mm tip. The high coverage is ideal for covering blemishes, melasma, post-inflammatory marks and red veins. It’s available in 16 shades at launch.

Shades:

16 shades, 8 different undertones (listed below) in fair, medium and deep shades.

  • Rosey x1
  • Neutral Golden x3
  • Golden x1
  • Neutral x6
  • Olive x1
  • Neutral Red x2
  • Neutral Terracotta x1
  • Golden Peach x1

I’ve used the shades three and five. Three is a good match, quite similar to T3 (Seamless Tint) but more golden, however, shade five which has a warmer undertone benefits when concealing anything with darkness or redness and I’ve reached for this more when targeting thread veins and redness in my spots!

Packaging & Price

The pencils are white with a band showing the shade to easily decipher. Product detail is also printed on the side.

There is a sharpener in the lid to keep the concealer tip precise and also help with sanitation.

The pencil arrives in a white card sleeve bearing the brand logo and product details. The lid needs to be secured well to ensure the product doesn’t dry out.

At the time of publishing, I am experiencing a little wear of text on the logo of the pencils which is disappointing at such an early stage. I have reached out to the team and look forward to reporting back about this. If there’s one thing that Lisa Eldridge brand does, seamlessly (pun intended), it is to resolve any issues in a speedy manner.

Pinpoint Concealer feels, in hand, the same as an eyeliner in both size and shape. It is lightweight and built for convenience. It is 0.4g which is a small product weight, making it expensive. More so if we consider the Seamless glide eyeliner is 1.2g (£24). I’m comparing it to the brand’s eyeliner because I don’t think it’s fair to compare it to any wood clenched concealer pencils on the market as they are a completely different pencil style and formula.

The Pencil

As someone who used to suffer from cystic acne (and still gets the occasional giant guest), I grasped onto Lisa‘s pinpoint concealing technique early on as a way to help diminish their appearance and in turn boost my confidence. This then became a skill I took into my own makeup artistry work, with thanks of course, to Lisa’s technique.

If you’re a fan of long-wearing concealers like Laura Mercier’s secret camouflage and Nars soft matte then I think you’d enjoy this. while it’s not the same (it of course has to be formulated differently to work in this format) it’s of a similar (yet more modern) vein.

The pencil format is genius, both from a brand and artistry standpoint, it is very user-friendly. It allows you to be precise and the compact nature means it is always on hand. The tip is small enough to get into the nooks and crannies to target small blemishes and the formula builds with ease when needed.

Pictures are taken in the same studio lighting setup. Unfortunately, the sun was shining in my ‘before’ images so there’s a slight change in brightness! No editing whatsoever! I’ve used Pinpoint concealer 3 & 5, Seamless Skin Tint T3.

It’s also ideal for on-the-go and fits well into a makeup bag. Being a pencil it can also be sanitised and sharpened so great when you’re dealing with blemishes.

Of course, Lisa isn’t the very first brand to launch a concealer pencil. Jones Road and Bobbi Brown both had wooden pencils (which don’t offer the same longevity) in a thicker style. The best way to think about the difference in terms of its effect is that this long-wear formula offers similar features of a long-wearing, waterproof eyeliner versus a kohl eyeliner (wooden pencil).

In terms of value for your money, this isn’t the most affordable concealer. However, it is high coverage, you really don’t need much for flawless application and one of it’s best features (aside from its coverage and staying power) is it connivence and how bag friendly it is.

If I were to pop a mystic meg hat on I’d predict a hot poured pot concealer also in the brands future, one that you apply with a tiny brush. Then Pinpoint concealer pencil can either be your only concealer or your handbag essential for any daytime and evening touchups.

Application

The pencil is nicely weighted and the concealer tip of 1.5mm is very precise. This makes it easy to target your application. It really does give you the ability to apply the concealer directly on top of a thread veins, for example, without over-applying product. Simply patting with a finger is sufficient to blend and the concealer builds with ease should you wish to go back in.

I find it blends easily with a small brush also so it really does come down to preference or indeed, your location and what you have on your person!

I love that I can be incredibly precise and target a thread vein but also almost colour in a large circle area to conceal a large cystic spot! Yet both, despite using different amounts of concealer, blend easily and look remarkably natural.

That’s what’s key here, the natural finish. The high coverage conceals the offender but the precise application enables skin to have a natural finish overall.
At the same time, you can apply the concealer to a larger area, in a more zigzag manner and the product blends beautifully without looking heavy or caked.

I find that it wears well throughout the day and doesn’t easily smudge off.

Tips

Use (with a light hand) around your lips to tidy up your lipstick when wearing a bold lip! Don’t forget to blend! I also like to use it on the inner corner of my eye socket next to my nose – it can be dark here and this concealer is great for brightening!

Final Thoughts

To sum up. I feel like I’ve waited years for a concealer from Lisa! I did think it would be under-eyes concealer first (I’m still waiting with bated breath for that) but I am thrilled with this pinpoint concealer launch. I think it’s a smart launch for the brand if not one of the most quintessentially Eldridge products. It’s incredibly user-friendly and a concealer I haven’t stopped reaching for. A true multitasker that has dealt with the dryness of a healing spot, the redness of my broken veins and the darkness left with post-blemish inflammation.

All this left to be said would we expect anything less from the artist who bought us this technique?
