The Summer Friday Lip Butter Balm is the must-have lip balm but does the product warrant the hype? I’ve put it to the test so let’s find out.

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm
Summer Fridays is the creation of two friends, Lauren and Mary, who sought to create beauty products with the combined benefits of skincare and makeup. Their aim? To simplify routines with effective products. Summer Fridays uses sustainable materials in its packaging such as aluminium, glass and recycled plastics. They are vegan and cruelty free.
Their most viral products to date are the lip butter balms (second to the Jet Lag Mask) and it is those that we are focusing on today.
The popular indie brand is now easily available in Space NK & Cult Beauty in the UK.
Lip butter balm is in a soft silicone tube that is easy to squeeze. The product decants well. Be prepared to wipe the nozel every week or so as excess from the nip can transfer to the inner cap and ooze out if there is a build-up. This is easily managed and not an issue in my eyes.

Key Ingredients
Butter Balm is a conditioning, moisturising overnight lip mask. Don’t let the name confuse you though, you can wear it at any time, day or night (trust me, I do!). It’s key ingredients of Shea and murumuru seed butters provide enhanced hydration.

The balms are enhanced with vegan waxes to help soften and leave a beautiful shine on the lips.
Suitable for all skin types. It is available in eight tints.
This is my second lip butter balm, previously I have had the vanilla tint and I’m currently using the Hot Cocoa. Hot Cocoa is a limited edition shade that I really hope comes back!
Review
The Lip Butter is soothing and buttery on application. It immediately coats lips in a luxurious layer of balminess leaving them feeling moisturised with a youthful sheen that fills any fine lines.
Now, when I first tried the vanilla I have to admit it didn’t knock my socks off. I really enjoyed the vanilla scent – Vanilla fans will love it – however due to the product’s virality I expected more; what I got was a nice, pleasant lip balm. Don’t get me wrong, it was effective, but I didn’t fall hard for it.
Until I picked up the Hot Cocoa tint at launch last year, whether it’s the tint, scent (or indeed flavour…) or perhaps the formula has been rejigged in recent years (?) this 24’/25’ butter balm outperforms its previous edition.
With the Hot Cocoa, I have found a definite difference in the condition of my very dry lips. They feel softened and conditioned and the balm lasts a good amount of time before I need to top up. It’s not too sticky and I really enjoy the nudey-chocolate tint. The scent is heavenly for a chocolate lover. Think of a luxurious hot chocolate on a cold day… As the cool kids would say, I’m obsessed.

Final Thoughts
Is the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm worth the money? With many great, affordable lip balms to offer, you don’t need to spend this much on a lip balm. However, if it’s within your budget, it’s certainly an enjoyable option and one my lips thank me for.
