AD [Part gifted] Let’s talk energy and vitamin B! Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient which supports the brain and nervous system, aids the development of healthy red blood cells and is vital in the DNA process. While consuming vitamin B12 in your diet is important, there are instances where supplementing is necessary and that’s what I’d like to chat with you about today. I’ve been thrilled to find a local service for vitamin B12 Injections at Newcastle Skin Clinic.
Vitamin B12 Injection
Ensuring you are getting enough Vitamin B12 is important. It quite literally supports your brain and cardiovascular system and not having sufficient can lead to unpleasant symptoms.
The dietary reference value (DRV)* for healthy adults (over the age of 18) is 4 μg of vitamin B12 per day.
B12 tends to be rich in meat and fortified foods so it is important to consider adding supplements into your diet if you are vegetarian or vegan.
Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms can be:
- Constipation
- Lightheadedness
- Constipation
- Vision loss
- Memory loss
- Diarrhoea
- Hair loss
- Shortness of breath
- Heart palpitations
- Weakness
- Tiredness
- Lack of appetite
- Gas
- Numbness
- Weakness of muscles
- Issues with walking
- Depression
- Behavioural changes
Vitamin B12 Injection At Newcastle Skin Clinic
I have quite a complex health history and ongoing chronic illnesses. I used to get Vitamin B12 injections via the NHS however after a NICE guidelines update I no longer qualified, despite having low and deficient levels in my blood tests and benefiting from the injections.
After a google search, I came across Newcastle Skin Clinic (NSC) and was thrilled to see that they offer Vitamin B12 Injections! I honestly thought I was going to have to get them shipped in from abroad, so this was amazing!
The team at NSC are so lovely and friendly and make your visit very pleasant.
Luisa, a trained nurse, takes vitamin B12 appointments. There is a short consultation where Luisa talks through the consent form and answers any questions. An ice pack is available to numb your arm a little should you wish.
Luisa administers the injection which, for me (who is very used to injections and having blood taken), is quick and painless.
I don’t have a fear of needles so it is a seamless process. However, I fully appreciate that injections can be very concerning for some people. What I will say is that the team is very professional, follow strict hygiene protocols and make you feel relaxed and at ease.
It is a very quick appointment. Easy to pop in during a lunch break!
Newcastle Skin Clinic use Methylcobalamin B12 – B-12 HYDROXYCOBALAMIN – and it is £30 per injection.
Winter Boost
For me, it’s important to have a Vitamin B12 injection every 6 weeks and I do feel the benefits.
I think it’s a particularly great treatment to have during the winter for a boost when energy is waning. In fact, I might book in for an IV treatment to really help my system! I just love that there is a local clinic that is accessible and has these treatments available.
While it’s not a pamper, such as a facial that one might expect from a salon, it is the inner boost your body may just need; it’s one that my body certainly appreciates.
I’m planning on taking you along with me for my next appointment so do keep an eye on my instagram for that!
