Thayers Skincare

Today is all about hydration and introducing Thayers Skincare, a brand that I have been enjoying discovering. I’m excited to share my thoughts with you, so let’s dive in!

Now if you’ve followed me for some time you’ll know how important I feel hydration is for the skin. While I have an oily/combination skin type, it is dehydrated and years of stripping my natural oils as a teen and young adult taught me how not to care for my skin and that it actually longed for hydration! I enjoy doing this in light layers that don’t feel heavy on my skin; mists, toners and essences are perfect for this. So I was thrilled to test the toner and mist from Thayers Skincare.

Thayers Skincare – Who are they?

Thayers Skincare Facial Toner and Facial Mist

Thayers Skincare, an American brand, first began in 1847 as a brand creating natural remedies. They had great success, even supplying products to the army during the wars. As their science developed over time the brand introduced Witch Hazel to their products, which has become a hero ingredient within their line. Thayers products are:

“made the old-fashioned way – and not distilled – so they contain 195% more tannins, which are naturally occurring substances found in the bark and skin of some plants, including Witch Hazel. Tannins have mild antioxidant properties and help to balance the skin’s pH levels.” – Thayers Skincare

Thayers Skincare offers a range of facial mists, body bars, astringents and alcohol-free toners.

Their products are made with 98% Natural Origin Ingredients and are:

  • Alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, gluten-free
  • Dermatologist tested and deemed safe for sensitive skin
  • Cruelty-Free: Never tested on animals
  • Vegan Formula: No animal-derived ingredients
  • Grown in Connecticut
  • Non-comedogenic

Thayers Unscented Toner

An alcohol-free, non-drying toner works to hydrate in a feather-light layer. With Aloe Vera to calm and soothe skin, and Witch Hazel with gentle healing properties. It also contains glycerin, a powerful humectant that attracts moisture to the skin.

This is a lovely, refreshing toner that does exactly as it promises. My skin feels hydrated and plumped and ready for the next stage in my routine. There is a soothing and smoothing element to the toner and I like that there is an unscented version and that it is alcohol-free. Great options for anyone with sensitive skin and/or hypersensitive to scents and fragrances.

They do offer a range of scented options including rose petal, coconut and lavender.

Thayers Cucumber Facial Mist

The Cucumber Facial Mist is a gentle, hydrating mist that aims to reduce the appearance of pores and balance the complexion. It utilises Witch Hazel to nourish skin and Aloe Vera to soothe and care for the skin.

This mist is so refreshing! The cucumber is subtle, there isn’t a heavy scent, and the mist is slightly cooling – it would be wonderful to use chilled come to the warm Summer Weather!

It provides an instant hit of hydration and my skin certainly feels smooth and content after use.

Of course, you don’t need both the mist and the toner, you could easily get away with one or the other, but it is nice to layer the too if you really wish to boost hydration. The mist has the benefit of being able to reapply throughout the day if you have it to hand and feel you need a little hit of hydration. Both are really lovely products. If you fall on the drier end of the scale you will of course want to lock in the hydration with more thick, occlusive creams; normal to oily skin types may like to finish with a hydrating gel cream and SPF. My skin has definitely felt happy doing the latter.

Thayers Skincare makes adding hydration into your routine a breeze and it’s a brand I’ve been happy to discover. Is it one you’re tempted by?
