Dr Sam’s Flawless Brightly Serum has to be one of my most repurchased serums ever – you know that feeling when you and a serum just click? Well this is a serious multi tasker and I want to share a little bit about why I simply adore it and what skincare concerns it may be beneficial for.

Dr Sam’s Brightly Serum – What Is It?
Flawless Brighty Serum is the serum that made me fall in love with the Azeliac acid. It wasn’t the first serum I had tried with the active but the percentage, the balance alongside its other ingredients is just perfect – in my experience.
The morning serum in the Dr Sam’s Skincare range, Flawless Brightly, is all about protecting, dampening inflammation, targeting pores and giving serious glow.
It’s a little bit of a powerhouse so please indulge me as I delve into why.
Key Ingredients
- 10% Azelaic Acid – calms redness and inflammation, tackles blemishes and clears blocked pores
- 5% Niacinamide – helps clear pores, strengthens skin, helps skin tolerate retinoids
- 2% Ascorbyl Glucoside – antioxidant with brightening properties
- 1% Backuchiol – helps to clear pores and tackle signs of premature ageing
Texture And Application
The serum itself has quite a velvety texture. It smoothes on to the skin in a quick and easy to motion. Dr Sam describes it as an ‘amplified active’ and with good reason; the serum boasts four active ingredients in a non irritating formula. The ingredients work in harmony to settle irritated skin and to strengthen skins barrier.

The serum applies with ease and absorbs into the skin quickly. In the summer, my oily/combination skin finds that just wearing Flawless Brightly followed by SPF is adequate hydration, whereas during the winter months I find I need to add a moisturiser into my routine.
My Experience
I’ve suffered from acne most of my adult life. After my second round of Roaccutane to treat cycstic acne in my mid-thirties I was left with Rosacea around my mouth and chin. At first it was misdiagnosed as peri-oral dermatitis and wouldn’t respond to treatment. Later once correctly diagnosed, prescription medication helped with the flare but the area of affected skin was painfully sensitive, and suffered redness, blotchiness and a rough texture.
Then Dr Sam’s Flawless Brightly Serum entered the chat. When I say I was blown away, I truly mean I was blown away!
I built my use up slowly but in no time, this area of skin that once stung under the weight of the most bland moisturiser I could find, suddenly began to calm; redness reduced, sensitivity improved and over time, texture has improved.
It has been truly transformative.
This isn’t my only benefit. I still suffer from the occasional hormonal cystic blemishes and find that using Flawless Brightly (alongside Nightly Serum and Flawless Neutralising Gel) really does reduce frequency and intensity of the blemishes.
On top of that (yes there’s more!) my pores appear smaller, blackheads come to the surface and my goodness, the glow that’s left on your skin is fabulous!

Tips:
I find it’s best applied directly onto dry skin to prevent pilling. So ensure any mists and toners have fully dried down first if you use them.
Final Thoughts
As you can probably gather I’m a fan of Dr Sam’s Flawless Brightly Serum. It’s a serun that I’ve truly seen and felt incredible results with and I haven’t found anything else like it on the market. It is gentle yet benefits many skin concerns, be it sensitivity, redness, blemishes.
It’s also just a cracking AM serum to help strengthen skins barrier and protect skin from environmental damage during the day.
