Oh Please Magic my dark eye circles away!
If you’re into makeup then you know that pretty much every new launch Charlotte Tilbury brings to the market swiftly sells out. Charlotte not only knows her clientele and it’s demand but most importantly that quality of product makes people come back time and time again; the key to good business.
Thus in lies the beauty, the wonder that is Magic Away Concealer. So how does a concealer that launched 7 months ago (a lifetime in the many launches of the beauty world) still hold a firm no.1 spot in this makeup addicts makeup bag? Lets find out.
Charlotte knows best
It’s no secret, I have issues when it comes to makeup shopping. I just need it all. And by it all I mean I want everything that glitters, shimmers, shines and then-some. Then I need all that conceals and perfects beautifully. Yep, issues. Beauty magpie over here!
But when it comes to the big B that is Base, concealer is my best friend. It is however also a tricky little fellow.
A long term cystic acne sufferer, my relationship with concealer started young. However I swiftly learnt through my Makeup artistry training that what worked for one part of the face, might not always work as well for another; (while not always the rule) this certainly being the case with concealer. The heavier, more traditionally ‘setting’ types of concealer suited best to blemish concealing, the lighter consistency products working more fluidly for the eye area. And for good reason. Our eye area moves a lot with the natural movement of our face, we need our products to mimic this; this is what Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Away Concealer does so well.

A girl in her mid-30’s with bags and fine lines to boot
I’m not ashamed to say that as a girl, ok woman, in her mid-thirties I have some cracking dark under eye circles and fine lines to boot. I’d quite like to conceal these to the best of my ability. I’m no fool, no makeup in the land will magic my fine lines away, in fact many products will enhance them. A concealer that doesn’t make the worst of those bad boys isn’t that easy to find, especially when you’re looking to conceal darkness; yet that is what I’ve found here with Team Tilbury.
Coverage with a slight of hand
A liquid concealer that is wonderfully light is what you’re getting with Magic Away. There’s no ‘dry down’, similar to that of Tarte’s Shape Tape or Laura Mercier’s Flawless Fusion concealer (both great concealers in their own right, just different). It appears to have an elasticity to it and that is part of it’s winning formulation in my mind. As I briefly mentioned earlier, our eyes are so full of movement, endlessness catching every laugh, smile, tear and word that’s spoken. Our skin moves with them and therefore we need our makeup to move with it, not just sit in our fine lines; should we have them. This is what the ‘Magic Away’ concealer seems to do.

Hydration
This is a concealer packed with hydrating ingredients and these play a part in plumping the delicate eye area and not drawing attention to any fine lines, as I have found many concealers can do.
Just to highlight a few of these ingredients contained in Magic Away concealer:
For skin conditioning and hydrating there is:
Coverage
Somehow, somewhere in Charlotte’s secret labs they’ve managed to formulate something pretty close to the holy grail, in the concealer world. A lightweight concealer that is densely pigmented. This gives me just enough coverage to knock back my very dark under eye circles, without needing to pile on layers of product; a sure fire way to make any fine line look twice a deep!
And that’s why
Well now your know my secret. Why I can’t be without this concealer and why I’ve not quite found one that’s knocked it off the top spot of yet (not that I’ve stopped looking 🙂 ).
A dreamy concealer that effortlessly beautifies under eye areas, providing coverage where needed, without sitting in fine lines or creasing. Clearly I’m a fan.
It can be bought from Charlotte Tilbury’s website for £24.00.
