A Little About Cleansing Oils

Cleansing oils are typically used as a 1st cleanse in a PM routine or indeed as your morning cleanse if it suits your skin type. Cleansing oils are great at breaking down makeup, SPF and any build-up of dirt, oils and pollution from the day. Once emulsified by adding a touch of water, they turn to milk and can be wiped away with a face cloth or splashed away, if preferred.

Those with normal to dry skin types may tend to reach for cleansing oils more as they are incredibly nourishing and can be a great way of soothing tight skin through the cleansing process.

I have oily/combination skin and in the past have veered away from cleansing oils as I have found some to leave residue, something my oilier skin couldn’t handle. This could easily have been down to the product itself or indeed how oily my skin was at the time. Of course, oily skin still looks for nourishment, so finding the right product is key!

Second to just doing a good job at cleansing, the most essential features of a cleanser for me, personally, is for there to be no residue left on my skin and for there to be no tightness after use. It is certainly a tricky balance to find.

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil

The Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil is a nourishing cleanser with six different oil types that when combined work to break down any makeup, SPF, dirt and pollution while moisturising and helping to boost the skin with antioxidants.

I love that the cleanser is high in Omega 6 to help protect the skin and has vitamin E to soothe whilst cleansing. The addition of vitamin C is great to boost brightness.

Of course, a cleanser isn’t on our skin for a long period of time so it’s worth taking this into consideration when it comes to costs and where you want to spend money in your routine.

Super Facialist is a great middle-of-the-road brand when it comes to the price tag and is available on the high street. They offer the cleanser in two sizes which allows you to try the cleanser in the smaller version if desired.

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil £14.00 200ml, £6.50 100ml.

Fragrance

The cleansing oil has a pleasant fragrance of mandarin, orange, grapefruit and lemon with floral notes. I don’t find it to be overpowering and I am quite sensitive to scents.

I’m able to use this cleanser on my eyes without irritation which gives it huge brownie points.

Application

I find the Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil such a pleasure to use. It massages into the skin well and gives enough movement to really break down any grease and grime on the skin.

Simply adding a touch of water allows the oil to emulsify into milk and I enjoy that the cleanser can be removed with a face cloth or simply washed away; great for those with sensitive or sensitized skin who can’t use a face cloth daily.

There is definite hydration to the skin after use and no tightness whatsoever.

Tips

One of my favourite treats is to apply the oil and take time to massage my face, with a gua sha tool, roller or simply my hands. I then like to leave the oil on for 10-15mins before removing it as usual.

It is the perfect ‘at-home’ nourishing mask! Of course, you don’t need to massage, simply apply and let the oils do their job! What a treat!

Final Thoughts

The Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil has really impressed me. It is the cleanser of choice at the moment and one I am sure will be restocked before it is emptied!
