Perhaps one of the brand’s most popular products, POREfessional, is a mattifying primer that helps to give skin a ‘smooth’ appearance and helps keep oil under control. Think of it like ‘filler’ for your pores, that’s kind of how it works. It is silicone-heavy, which is how it achieves this ‘poly-filler’ smoothing finish; how much you like or dislike this is truly down to preference. I also think a lot comes down to skin type and concerns. It is iconic for a reason.
Benefit is back with a bang and is extending the POREfessional range to now include, aptly named “pore care” which includes:
- The POREfessional Tight n Toned Toner Pore-refining AHA+PHA toning foam
- The POREfessional Deep Retreat Mask Pore-clearing clay mask
- The POREfessional Good Cleanup Foam Cleanser Pore-purifying foaming cleanser
- The POREfessional Get Unblocked Oil Cleanser Pore-clearing makeup-removing cleansing oil
- The POREfessional Speedy Smooth Pore Mask Quick smoothing pore mask
- The POREfessional Smooth Sip Moisturizer Lightweight smoothing moisturizer for pores
- All in One Mask Wand Pore Care Cleansing Wand Face mask applicator & cleansing tool
The POREfessional Deep Retreat Mask Pore-clearing clay mask is one of the two new masks available so let’s dive into its benefits!
Here’s the mask on my Tiktok!
Benefit POREfessional Deep Retreat Face Mask
The mask is formulated with Kaolin clay to clear pores and sea fennel extract to mattify skin by soaking up excess oil. In fact, as you wear the mask you can notice darker spots form. This is where surface oil is most present and shows the mask is doing its job!
Using the benefits of Jojoba seed oil, plum kernel oil and prickly pear to hydrate and soothe, skin is left feeling hydrated and comfortable after use.
- Deep clears pores
- 12-hour* mattifying
- Smooth, creamy clay feels gentle & comfortable
- Clinically proven
- Gentle, non-stripping & non-drying
- Suitable for all skin types
- Respects the skin’s pH
The mask is available in two sizes:
Mini 30ml £18
Full size 75ml £35

It is a simple mask to use, apply and leave for 20-30 minutes. It is not highly scented so I think it will be suitable for all. I definitely find my skin looks brighter after use and have enjoyed using the mask to ‘spot’ treat blemishes also. I’m not sure I could say my oiliness has been drastically changed, however, I am definitely less shiny on my t-zone after use which is welcome.
I really love that the mask doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry. I can be prone to dehydration so I enjoy that the mask is non-stripping whilst still addressing the oily/combination skin concerns that I have.
All in all, this is a very welcome addition to the Benefit line! I’d certainly be interested in trying more from the range!
